Rolled her into the garage Saturday morning and set to work. Got her sealed and the first coat of color laid on:

Kinja'd!!!

Laid 2 more coats, then the first coat of clear before unmasking the front corner. Then I started clearing the whole car:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

3 more coats of clear, then she tacked for a bit before pulling her out to bake:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Went in, grabbed some lunch, then came back out and put her back together:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Drove her around yesterday once I knew the paint had hardened sufficiently. Then she got her first bath via a downpour in our area. I waited until I was sure the rain was done and gave her a quick drying:

That there is impressive work.  I don’t know that I could be convinced to try to paint a car.  I’d be so nervous.

Nice job! Welcome to the self-painted club! Got away without too many runs and spots of dust in the finish?

Very cool! What color did you go with, I was never a BIG Mopar guy, but we grew up with a ‘93 Caravan which I loved dearly, so I always knew a bit more about Chrysler products growing up and I don’t remember that as a factory color...custom?

I’ve been doing it for a long time, so it’s like 2nd nature to me. I used to get nervous when I first started doing body work/painting, now it brings nothing but joy.

Honestly don’t think I’ve had a run or light spot in 10 yrs. I’ve been doing paint work since I was 14 though, so I have lots of practice.....

I will be doing some wet-sanding/buffing though as the metal flake sticks up in spots.

It’s pure custom. It is pretty close to the OEM Emerald pearl (I believe that was the name).

I guess I understand. I have no hesitation ripping into an engine, becau se I know I can get it back together and running, I’ve done it enough.  Body work has always been something that terrifies me.  Even when I was forming body panels, I’d tack then in and pay someone to do it the rest of the way, and paint.  I should try sometime, though.

Looking good. Congrats!

Isn't this like the 3rd car you've painted this year?

I was going to say we had a Plymouth Voyager when I was a kid that was  that color green and with gold t rimmed rims too. This is exactly how ours looked.

The hood and fender mural is interesting.  Is there a back story to it?

Is than an original color? Looks like a shade from back in the day.

It’s pure custom, although it is close to the original “Emerald pearl” they had back in the dya.

Had a spare hood/fender, let the kids have some fun, was happy with the result so we went with it:  https://oppositelock.kinja.com/weekend-progress-1825463368

It’s really not hard. If you can handle an engine rebuild, you can handle paint work.

Take your time, prep everything. It requires a lot of feel and finesse , but it’s totally a worthwhile venture.

Maybe do it on something you don’t care much about first, then venture into other things.
